KINGWOOD residents north of the San Jacinto River may take advantage of the 20% Harris County Homestead Exemption (additional exemption of $156,240 at age 65), the 20% City of Houston Homestead Exemption (additional exemption of $34,006 at age 65), and $15,000 tax exemption from the Humble Independent School District ($30,000 total tax exemption off assessed value & taxes are frozen at age 65). Residents south of the river may take advantage of the 20% Harris County Homestead Exemption (additional exemption of $156,240 at age 65) and the $15,000 tax exemption from the Humble Independent School District ($30,000 total tax exemption off assessed value & taxes are frozen at age 65).All residents may take advantage of the $5,000 tax exemption from the North Harris Montgomery College District (additional exemption of $75,000 at age 65). TOTAL 2008 TAX RATE is obtained by adding the Total County tax rate, Humble I.S.D. tax rate, North Harris County College tax rate, City of Houston or the appropriate Utility District tax rate.
